"Johnson Screen" is a high-strength, long-lasting metal filter made from stainless steel wire with a V-shaped cross-section and a smooth surface. Due to the small contact area with the particles being filtered, it experiences less clogging, and its filtration capacity can be easily restored through backwashing. Additionally, it has a large ratio of open area to screen surface area, resulting in low pressure loss. Opening widths can be selected from 0.025mm to 10mm to match the filtration target. The equipment manager at an automotive parts manufacturer faced the challenge of "having issues with the drum filter of the chip conveyor, and is looking for a filter to replace the mesh filter and punching filter." In response, we recommended the "Fine Wedge," which has a triangular cross-section that is less prone to clogging and has a high backwash effect. After testing and implementation, the accumulation of chips at the bottom of the clean tank significantly decreased, preventing the loss of chips and improving the clogging of the cleaning nozzles. Additionally, due to its superior strength and resistance to tearing, it eliminated the need for replacement work, resulting in reduced running costs. The amount of sludge was 1 to 2 bags (1t to 2t) per month, but they wanted to do this without incurring running costs, so we proposed the "Edge Wire Filter." This method has a proven track record in the carbon prevention process of another car parts factory, using a self-backwashing specification, and was adopted after several tests.
